Children & Youth

Makerspace Education & Visual Spacial Literacy

Like many organizations we have adapted our children’s programming and are working hard to build a cognitive rich playful environment while keeping children safe.

We focus on building and construction activities because they help to build visual spatial literacy, a kind of intelligence that is easily learned and foundational to interest in all STEM fields.

Using puzzles, construction elements, and 3D CAD we hope to inspire curiosity and interest in science, tech, engineering, art, and math (STEAM).

To enroll your child, please complete the registration form.

Maverick Makers Pro (MMPRO)

Maverick Makers PRO is a workforce development and social enterprise program for teens ages 14 to 18. Helping teens to build skills for the future in a space that designed to support their creations is how we create an environment that nurtures creativity and resiliency.

We give youth an opportunity to make an income while designing and making products. Our What-Kind-Of-Maker-Are-You key chains and charms have been sold in the Boston Maker Faire and in the East Boston Open Market. 100% of the proceeds supports teen jobs. Teens are paid an hourly wage for all time they put into production, marketing, and sales. Our journals are on sale now at our Maverick Makers PRO store.

Youth Summer Program

Get ready for another exciting summer as we gear up for our annual Youth Summer Program!

This year, over 35 enthusiastic young individuals will be joining us at MLCS and various local organizations through the City of Boston's SuccessLink program.

Our participants will dive into a range of community services, events, and initiatives, all aimed at giving back to the community. It's an opportunity for them to engage, learn, and make a positive impact.

Eastie’s Voice Newsletter

August 2020

As we wrap up the summer program the Outreach and Media team decided we wanted to create a magazine where we could inform on topics that have been impacting our community for a while. Here you’ll find information on the BLM Movement, gentrification, COVID-19, MLCS and East Boston. We proudly present to you “Eastie’s Voice”.
