MLCS newsletter MARCH
Six years of
meaningful Impact and Growth

For the sixth consecutive year, in collaboration with Mutual Aid Eastie and Transformational Prison Project, we celebrated another powerful milestone. This past Saturday, more than 30 students completed our Digital Literacy Program, delivered in partnership with Transformational Prision Project and Mutual Aid Eastie

Over the past several weeks, participants built essential skills—from using online tools and accessing financial resources to exploring job platforms and strengthening their confidence with technology. The program was delivered in both English and Spanish, creating an inclusive learning environment while also challenging participants to grow across languages. Many balanced work, family, and other responsibilities while remaining committed to their development, and we couldn’t be more proud.

More impact, more growth, and more opportunities ahead. 🙌

Growing to Serve You Better!G

We’re excited to introduce our new warehouse at 30 Northampton Street, a space dedicated to supporting our Food Distribution Program. This new location allows us to better organize, store, and distribute food, helping us serve our community more efficiently and reach even more families in need.

Last Friday, our Food Distribution staff earned their Industrial Powered Truck certification, allowing us to safely move and serve even more food.

Creativity in Action

Since launching in January, the East Boston Community Studio has become a vibrant hub for creativity and connection, offering hands-on workshops every other Saturday and opening our tools and space to the broader community.

At our latest session, participants joined a Laser Cut Puzzle Workshop, creating original drawings that were transformed into custom jigsaw puzzles. It was a fun and inspiring opportunity for community members of all ages to explore new skills and connect through art.

MLCS is expanding

MLCS is proud to expand our Resident Services beyond Maverick Landing to now include Lewis Mall and Grace Apartments in East Boston.

Embedded in four housing developments and serving East Boston, our team supports stability at the intersection of basic needs, health, and community life.

This growth marks an important milestone for our organization. We are also excited to announce a key new hire who will help ensure high-quality, consistent services across these communities.

Women’s Wellness Matters to Us

Last week, we celebrated Women’s Month with a Women’s Wellness Workshop centered on connection, learning, and empowerment. Participants explored tools to support their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. 🌿✨

Anyone can continue the journey through Brain Break Thursdays. Led by our resident services and engagement coordinator, Reiki practitioner and licensed Mandela Yoga instructor Elba Oliva, these sessions include accessibility-friendly Mandela Yoga and energizing Zumba with Dance Latin Boston.

Join us at the Maverick Landing Community Room on Thursdays:
