Delivery Driver and Warehouse Associate

Schedule: M-F 7-4 (ish) with rotating Saturdays and lunch break.

Compensation: $19-$27/hour depending on experience and qualifications

Location: East Boston, MA

MLCS seeks a reliable, hands-on Delivery Driver / Warehouse Associate to support our food distribution operations. This position drives MLCS’s six-pallet truck, performs pickup and delivery labor, and assists with warehouse and food distribution center activities as needed. MLCS welcomes and encourages applications from veterans. Relevant military driving, logistics, and warehouse experience will be strongly considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely drive MLCS’s truck to pick up and deliver food, supplies, and other materials.

  • Load and unload the truck, including lifting, carrying, and moving products with appropriate equipment.

  • Secure loads and follow safe food handling procedures.

  • Confirm pickup and delivery quantities and maintain accurate records.

  • Complete routine vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance needs, damage, or safety concerns.

  • Assist with routine maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and facilities, including related recordkeeping.

  • Assist with receiving, sorting, organizing, and storing warehouse inventory.

  • Prepare food orders and support food distribution center operations as needed.

  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly vehicles and work areas.

  • Work respectfully with staff, volunteers, community partners, and program participants.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license appropriate for the assigned vehicle and maintain an acceptable driving record.

  • Must successfully complete a CORI background screening consistent with applicable law and MLCS policy.

  • Ability to perform regular physical work, including loading, unloading, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to follow schedules and instructions.

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and promptly communicate concerns.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Experience driving box trucks or similar commercial vehicles preferred.

  • Forklift experience helpful, but not required.

  • Delivery, warehouse, or food distribution experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

Work takes place in the truck, warehouse, food distribution center, and at pickup and delivery locations. Duties involve frequent movement, standing, bending, and exposure to varying weather conditions.
