This is a part-time, 8-10 hour/week position.

This is a seasonal position with an end-date of December 23, 2026.

Location: East Boston, Ma

Schedule: Office hours are Monday-Friday from 11am-7pm and shifts will take place within these windows plus occassional Saturday shifts opportunities

Compensation: $15-17 per hour

Maverick Landing Community Services (MLCS) is a multi-service organization in the heart of the Maverick Landing housing development in East Boston. Our mission is to build a faircommunity by uplifting and supporting families, promoting community health, and nurturing resident and youth leadership & creativity. We do this by offering wrap-around resident services, adult education classes such as ESOL and digital literacy, robust youth and family programming, weekly food distributions, and housing advocacy and support.

Our team is looking to hire an Environmental Justice Peer Lead Organizer for our weekly environmental justice teen programming as well as to support larger program wide and neighborhood events.

This role will work to plan and facilitate weekly programming that introduces teen organizers to environmental justice issues in their local community, such as air quality & transportation, and food insecurity. This program is targeted towards youth ages 14-22 years. MLCS’s youth Environmental Justice program promotes youth leadership in its teen employment opportunities.Environmental Justice Peer Lead Organizer will support supervision of the program’s teenemployees.

MLCS youth programming acts as an opportunity for MLCS’ youth team to create a space where community youth can come to share safe space, build proper relationships between youth attendees and teen staff, and to address relevant community issues amongst peers.

You will work in a team to plan and facilitate relevant workshop themes— ensuring to focus oncommunity education around environmental issues, to empower residents and community members to address issues, and to support MLCS in distributing air purifier kits.

The Environmental Justice Peer Lead will report to our Youth Programs Coordinator.

Responsibilities:

• Leading weekly team huddles with community engagement teen employees and setting goals for the week

• Working with MLCS’ partners, staff, and various departments to amplify the impacts of our environmental justice work

• Outreach and representation on behalf of MLCS youth and environmental justice programming

• Collecting & organizing workshop attendance data

• Facilitation of community and program workshops

Desired skills:

• A high-school degree or equivalent

• Community-driven and enthusiastic about working with community members, specifically youth

• Interest in the environment, arts, culture and creating enriching and creative spaces

• Willingness to learn and grow within the team

• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
